Javier Loya's Philanthropic Work

Javier Loya’s philanthropic efforts reflect his deep commitment to both education and community development.

As the founder and Chairman of GETCHOICE, a national energy software company, Javier has leveraged his business acumen to promote smarter and greener practices in energy management. Beyond his corporate achievements, his philanthropic endeavors are particularly notable. Loya’s involvement with the Greater Houston Football Senior Showcase since its inception in 2008 has been a game-changer for many high school athletes. This event has generated over $160 million in scholarships for more than 4,000 participants, providing crucial financial support to students pursuing higher education. His dedication to empowering young athletes led him to establish the Greater El Paso Football Showcase Combine in 2011, which has since awarded over $16 million in scholarships to more than 150 seniors from his hometown. This initiative has been especially impactful for first-generation college students, giving them opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

In addition to his educational contributions, Loya has made significant strides in promoting diversity within the NFL. As a member of the league’s diversity committee, he has played a pivotal role in advancing policies aimed at increasing minority representation, particularly in leadership positions such as head coaches and front office roles. Loya was instrumental in the development of the Rooney Rule, a landmark policy designed to enhance diversity in NFL hiring practices. His service extends to other areas of community involvement as well; he has served on the Board of Regents for Texas Southern University and participated in various charitable organizations in Houston. Through these roles, Javier Loya continues to champion the values of diversity, education, and community support, reinforcing his commitment to creating positive change both locally and nationally.
