‘Slither’ raises $1.1 million for HMNS

The Houston Museum of Natural Science’s new Paleontology hall was open for discovery Saturday night for the “Slither to the Sound” gala.

Chairs Lucinda and Javier Loya and Josiane and Conrad Goerl slithered with dinosaurs as they greeted guests for an event that raised more than $1.1 million.

The snakelike theme was carried out in both design and dress. Snakeskin patterns and streamers adorned the halls, and women in slinky dresses sipped massive dinos. Guests bid on a Tahitian pearl necklace by Ernesto Moreira, along with other auction items, and listened to ’80s cover band SkyRocket.
